Jul 16, 2012

TORONTO, July 16, 2012 /CNW/ - Pacific Rubiales Energy Corp. (TSX: PRE; BVC: PREC; BOVESPA: PREB) is pleased to announce that Standard and Poors Rating Services ("S&P") has revised its outlook for the Company from "Stable" to "Positive" while also affirming the Company's BB corporate rating and its BB senior unsecured debt rating.

Ronald Pantin, Chief Executive Officer of the Company, commented: "This positive outlook by S&P is a strong endorsement of the Company's financial and operational strength, and continuing execution on its production and reserve growth targets. The report comes on the back of last year's rating upgrades by all three of the Company's credit rating agencies."

In summary, S&P noted: "The outlook revision is primarily based on the Company's continued increase in production volume and reserves, and its maintenance of a strong financial performance. Recent and expected strong development in production and reserves, "strong" liquidity; an experienced management team; and "significant" financial risk profile also support the rating."
